Mechanics Training

GoGood World Wide, Inc. will create a training facility to teach truck and bus mechanics to 12th graders through 24 years old. It is our intention to provide these youth with marketable skills that enable them to have a career in mechanics. Currently, when individuals go to apply for a mechanics position an Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certificate is the only back-up they have. The ASE certificate is essentially a test that simply shows the individual has book knowledge. By working hands on in our facility these youth will learn bus and truck mechanics from a Class A certified mechanic. Income brought in through this program will work to a self-sustaining job training program.

Youth from the area will be able to apply to our organization for the training program. When youth apply we will review their school records and assess their commitment to learning these skills. The youth will go through an interview process and may be asked to complete an essay on why they should be chosen for the program. The program participants will be chosen by the Board of Directors with the candidates showing the most commitment being chosen first.

To provide hands on experience to youth in the program, we will seek out customers for truck and bus repairs. Through these customers youth will be taught by a professional mechanic step-by-step how to perform bus and truck repairs. The youth will first observe the mechanic the repairs and while he is performing the repairs he will explain to them what he is doing and why. All throughout the process the youth will be asked to read different books on the components involved in the running and repair of vehicles.

Once the instructor believes the youth is ready the instructor will have the youth begin performing repairs themselves. At the end of the training process participants will receive a general certification stating they completed the hands-on training program. Each day there will be a maximum of 15 students as that is what the shop will be capable of handling. GoGood World Wide, Inc. anticipates the facility will be open Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
